The recent £1.8m Hereford Cycle Track at Hereford Leisure Centre required a solution for cycle storage, accessible toilets and a small social hub.
Introduction
Vinco Sales was approached by Halo Leisure, which operates the Hereford Leisure Center as part of a collaborative effort involving Sport England, British Cycling, Stronger Hereford, Herefordshire Council, Hereford City Council, and Halo Leisure. This partnership manages the Hereford cycle track situated at the Hereford Leisure Center. The team sought our expertise in creating a cycle hub, bike storage, and trackside facilities.
Challenges
Our representative, Joe, attended a meeting with the Halo team at Hereford Leisure Center to thoroughly understand their requirements. The discussions underscored the necessity for a refreshment space, bike storage, and WC facilities that harmonized with the outdoor environment. We explored various utility options, deliberating between mains connections and effluent tanks. Additionally, delivering the unit posed logistical challenges, as the desired location required crossing the Hereford Horse Racing Course within the leisure center fields.
Solution
After extensive discussions spanning several months, we proposed a solution comprising a blend of containex modular buildings, ISO containers, and Vinco’s custom-manufactured units to meet diverse requirements. We suggested cladding all units to seamlessly blend with the surroundings. Upon the client’s decision to connect all WC facilities and waste management to mains, the need for effluent tanks was eliminated. Addressing the delivery and installation challenge, a site visit was arranged with a hauler to ensure the feasibility of installing the units in the desired location.
Implementation
Once all the details were confirmed, the project was scheduled with our production team. Throughout the manufacturing and building stages of the order, Vinco Sales maintained close coordination with the client to ensure the smooth execution of the project. This involved managing logistics, scheduling deliveries, and installations, as well as addressing any unforeseen challenges that arose during the process.
Overall, the implementation phase focused on translating the proposed solution into action, ensuring that the cycle hub, bike storage, and trackside facilities were successfully installed and integrated into the Hereford Leisure Center.
